Thousands of spectators are expected to both watch and march in this year's Lunar New Year parade in Flushing later this month.
The parade, which begins at 11am on Saturday, Jan. 25. at Union Street and 37th Avenue, will bring in the Year of the Rat with floats, dragon dancing, stunning outfits, martial art performers and more to celebrate.
The hour-long parade will wind its way from the corner of Union Street and 37th Avenue to Main Street and 39th Avenue.
Before the parade, residents can join the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce at St. George’s Church, located at 13532 38th Avenue, for coffee and refreshments, raffles, prizes and live performances by local artists at a 9:30 a.m. reception. Following the reception, marchers will make their way to the parade’s starting point to join the celebration.
The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce is part of a community coalition that plans and organizes the Flushing Lunar New Year Parade every year.
Following the parade, local residents are invited to the Queens Botanical Garden for crafts, performances, and activities for all ages starting at noon.
